Thank you to all the amazing members of our North

Thank you to all the amazing members of our North Haven community who supported today's food drive. Thanks to you we collected nearly 1200 individual food items and an additional ~$1700 which will be split between the two food pantries in North Haven. The donations made today will be going towards putting food on the tables of people in our community who are in need of support and kindness.

We all know that hunger doesn't just happen once a year. It is a year-round concern. We ask that as other community organizations hold similar drives, please find it in your hearts to help them, in their mission, as you've helped us today.

Come on down! It's a great day and a great time to help fill our local food pantries. There's at least an hour left of this drive. So, swing by Stop and Shop in North Haven and let's help our neighbors who may be in need.

Early voting has begun and Election Day is Tuesday

Early voting has begun and Election Day is Tuesday November, 4th. We need every registered voter to come out and support the entire Republican ticket by casting your vote. While some of the top offices may be uncontested, candidates who are running for boards and commissions, who do the work to help keep our town on the right path, need every vote in support of them.

Please make it a point to come out and vote in support of North Haven, the party whose track record speaks for itself, and the party who remains committed to a North Haven that is the envy of other municipalities.

Candidate for re-election to the Board of Finance

Candidate for re-election to the Board of Finance - Laurie-Jean Hannon

What makes Laurie-Jean Hannon an ideal candidate for Board of Finance. We asked her.

"I have lived in North Haven for over 30 years and have always welcomed the opportunity to serve as a volunteer in various capacities. For ten years, I served as the Treasurer of North Haven. When I retired from my full time position with Special Olympics Connecticut, I was asked to take on the role of Republican Registrar of Voters for North Haven knowing that I would have to step down from being Treasurer to become a Registrar. When I retired from the Registrar position, I was asked to fill a vacancy on the Board of Finance, a position I have held for the past few years. I look forward to continuing my service as a member of the Board of Finance and will continue to work with all of the town departments in holding down expenses."

On November 4th, please vote to re-elect Laurie-Jean Hannon.

Candidate for re-election to the Police Commission

Candidate for re-election to the Police Commission and election to Planning and Zoning - Bob Hannon

We recently spoke to Bob Hannon regarding his candidacy for Police Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission. Here's what Bob had to say.

"I have been a lifelong resident of North Haven and have always believed in giving back to the community. I served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for 29 years, chairman for 26. I left the ZBA to become a member of the Police Commission. I have two sons who are officers in the town of North Branford so I personally know how challenging their job can be and how much support each member of our police department needs from the Police Commission. It has been my pleasure and my honor to be on this board for over four years and I look forward to continue to serve on this commission. I have recently accepted the nomination as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission where I can put my past zoning experience to work in a different capacity for the town."

Candidate for Board of Education - Tom Prefontaine

We asked Tom, why he is seeking a position on North Haven's Board of Education.

"I am a lifelong member of the North Haven community and bring a unique and comprehensive perspective to the Board of Education. I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing our school system through multiple lenses; as a former student, a parent of a recent graduate with two current high schoolers, and as an educator with 23 years of classroom experience. I also hold a degree and certification in educational leadership, that has equipped me with the tools to understand both the day-to-day realities of teaching and the broader strategic goals of school administration. I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact North Haven’s schools have had on generations of students, and I am committed to working as part of a team that continues to strengthen that legacy. I care deeply about North Haven and will work to ensure our schools not only maintain their success, but also reflect the values and priorities of the community we serve."

Candidate for Board of Education - Martin Rudnick

Candidate for Board of Education - Martin Rudnick

We asked Martin "Marty" Rudnick, why he is running for re-election to the Board of Education.

"As a retired educator and parent of children who have graduated from North Haven Schools, I take pride in being able to work together with other members of the Board of Education. It is important to have members of the Board of Education who are capable of identifying, understanding, and explaining a variety of educational concerns which in turn help us avoid both problems and confusion."

Candidate for Planning and Zoning Alternate - Mark Parisi

What makes Mark a great candidate for Planning and Zoning? Well, we asked him...

"It was my son who convinced me to be more involved in local politics. He was 14 at the time and was a volunteer on Mike Freda's first campaign. It was a year or so later when I joined the RTC and I have been a member the last 14 years. I think my background in construction and commitment to serving the town made me a suitable candidate for Planning and Zoning. So, five years ago, I ran and won my first term. If re-elected, I hope to continue to bring good sense and reason to the commission."

Candidate for re-election to Fire Commission - Pat

Candidate for re-election to Fire Commission - Pat Nuzzolillo

Pat Nuzzolillo has been the chairman of the North Haven Fire Commission for the past 20 years. So, we asked Pat why he is seeking re-election. Pat told us, "After 20 years of being part of the North Haven Fire Commission, there are many initiatives I would like to continue to be part of. Times and challenges may change, but the mission does not, and that involves delivering high quality service to our citizens while doing everything we can to protect our resources, especially our fire and EMS workers. This is important work, and it is why I seek re-election."

Some these initiatives Pat mentions include:

1. maintaining a level of full-time firefighters appropriate to support the increase in call volume due to the economic development that has taken place and to deliver the quality customer services to our residents, business owners, and visitors in our town.

2. working collaboratively with the existing volunteer ranks and senior officers to recruit additional volunteers.

3. enhancing the delivery of emergency medical services and fire service, saving lives and property to the expectations of our residents.

4. continuing to work with the fire chief and senior officers in assuring our firefighters are well trained, in good health, and return home safely.
